Red Moroccan clay, often called Rhassoul or Ghassoul, is a naturally occurring clay mined from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. In cold-processed soap, it is used primarily as a natural colorant, giving bars a warm red-brown or earthy terracotta tone. Its fine, silky texture can also help create a smooth, creamy feel in the finished soap. Many soap makers choose it for the natural aesthetic and texture-enhancing qualities it brings to handcrafted bars.
